NEW LIGHT — Game Jam Build

New Light is a fast top-down survival shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world.
You have only 2 minutes before a massive zombie horde arrives — and your only goal is to gather as many scraps as you can before it's too late.

Each wave of enemies drops materials you can collect.
Sometimes you’ll unlock an upgrade choice, letting you pick between:
– better aim
– reduced zombie spawns
– increased loot pickup

Survive, collect, and try to beat your best score before the horde overwhelms you.

This month I started learning game development from scratch.
I had never even heard about GDevelop before this jam, but I ended up really liking it — unlike when I tried Unity or Roblox Studio, here I can actually understand what I’m doing and how the logic works. Right now, it’s my favorite engine.

I built this entire project in GDevelop, guided step-by-step by ChatGPT — helping me with logic, fixes, events, and everything I had no idea about.

This is my second game jam ever.
My first one (in Unity, earlier this month) I couldn’t finish on time… so this time my only goal was simple: finish the game — no matter what.

I didn’t manage to create full credits or all the polish, but I wanted to deliver a working, playable build.
Thank you for checking out my small project — it means a lot! ❤️

This is my first month learning game dev — some features like upgrades don’t fully work yet, but I’m happy I managed to finish a complete jam build! Thanks for playing ❤️
